The Milford Music Festival Announces Headliner

MILFORD—The Milford Music Festival is pleased to announce the booking of Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul, to be the headlining act on Saturday June 11.

Eileen Ivers grew up in the Bronx and is the daughter of Irish immigrants. Her childhood was steeped in traditional Irish music as she learned to play the violin and she went on to win nine All-Ireland fiddle championships. She has played with the London Symphony, Boston Pops, and Riverdance and has been called, “The Jimi Hendrix of the violin,” by the New York Times.

Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul is made up of world-class musicians. Their music is a mix of African and Latin percussion and bass, Irish instrumentals, and American soulful vocals.

The Milford Music Festival is presented by Altec Lansing and other sponsors for the third year and will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 10, 11, and 12. All the headline performances are held on the main stage in Milford’s Ann Street Park. These performances are free and are held under a big tent.

On Friday the music will start at 7 p.m. with Zydecoal, a 5-piece band that plays the Cajun/Zydeco music of Southwestern Louisiana. At 8 p.m., the Burr Johnson Trio performs, with their instrumental-only blend of rock, jazz, blues, and funk.

On Saturday music begins at noon with the Enso String Quartet, which has won many international competitions. At 2 p.m., in the Gazebo, Patti Gessner will hold a Children's Music Workshop. There will also be open air performances by groups and soloists at key locations throughout Milford.

Saturday evening features an opening performance by Crooked Still, a neo-bluegrass quartet at 6:30 p.m. followed at 7:30 by the headlining performance of Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul.

On Sunday afternoon, starting at 1 p.m., there will be performances by the Delaware Valley High School band, chorus and orchestra. Closing the festivities at 5:30 p.m. will be the Bobby Kyle Band.

Restaurants and bars in Milford will feature live music both Friday and Saturday night. A map will be created identifying what performances and other events will occur.

Details of these performances, the main stage schedule and the map will be posted on the Festival Web site, www.milfordmusic.org, as the schedule is finalized. Programs will also be printed prior to the event. If you are interested in being a sponsor, call (570) 296-1232.
